Meteorological observatories

Observational activities:

As the integral part of the Department there are two meteorological observatories:

Another observatory, situated in Mlyňany, was delimited to Arboretum Mlyňany of SAS (January 1, 2000).

The working program of these observatories is reach. It covers the monitoring of the weather and, on the other hand, performing measurements (automatic and manual) of meteorological elements. In addition to the standard meteorological measurements, the special measurements are curried out regularly. The measured data are collected and recorded by means of a computerized modular monitoring system ESM 200.

More than 30 meteorological quantities are monitored and stored in the database. Twelve of them are published in the yearbook "Meteorological observatories Skalnaté Pleso and Stará Lesná". The yearbook is distributed to the home and foreign libraries in the framework of an interchange. At present these observatories are recorded in "International research centers directory".
